First of all, I'm very willing to see things in an unbiased light. I'm just so fatigued from talking to people who are so blind as to this country's problems stemming from our oil addiction that I'm beyond exasperation. Any good arguments I give are met with liberal labels, instead of thoughtful responses. So forgive my response to you.

As far as high oil prices being good for alternatives, I agree with you, so I guess we could say that inadvertently Bush has been good for alternatives, but he certainly hasn't set out with a strategy to wean us off of oil. Rather, more tax breaks for oil have been passed during the Republican controlled Congress than in several decades worth of legislation. It's been sickening to watch tens of billions in tax breaks go to oil and only a token in tax breaks go to alternatives. And now they are stalling the passage of a renewal for the alternatives tax breaks. That should be labeled treason in my book, given how oil dependence is destroying this country.
