Like I said to BP, causation is an irrelevant concept in that context. Causation is a red herring. I tried hard to avoid the word and only used it to accommodate you and further the discussion. (One of the first things you learn in facilitator/arbitrator training is to use the words the parties give you.)

Not a good analogy. Poor reading skills undoubtedly are a factor in school misbehavior. They lead to frustration and low self esteem. Being somewhere other than church on Sunday morning, not so much.
