The phenomenon you observed is called "pinning the strike". It happens every month with a number of stocks, particularly in the tech sector. I made a few dollars in September watching MSFT move from 133.5 to 135 in the last half hour of trading on the expiration Friday. James Cramer at www.thestreet.com had a nice article back in May about strike pinning. Ed A.
