"He could just say that until he gets elected, and then he could do the ol' bait and switch..." Except that (unlike some politicians I could name, such as Dubbya for one example...) Ron Paul has been EXTREMELY CONSISTENT for decades now, and has a firm voting track record which supports those positions for low taxes, small government, personal liberty and States' rights.
