Photovoltech Increasing Solar PV Cell Production Capacity - LDK Solar will supply the company with 400 MW of silicon wafers over a period of 10 years.
Photovoltech says it is increasing the photovoltaic cell production capacity of its plant in Tienen, Belgium, from 140 MW by the end of 2009 to 260 MW by the end of 2010. To meet this goal, the company is building a new production plant at the present Tienen site.

To secure a long-term supply of essential components for photovoltaic cell production, Photovoltech has signed a new wafer supply contract, under which China's LDK Solar will supply the company with 400 MW of silicon wafers over a period of 10 years.

New technology specifically designed for thin silicon wafers will be employed on the two new lines, which Photovoltech developed jointly with Interuniversity MicroElectronics Center.
