I think there might be some truth in what you have observed but it is not a universal in our society; especially in the African-American communities in large cities. More important is the presence of a stable father. Many families I saw during my AFDC case work in L.A. were very religious but without a real papa in the home, wild boys frequently ensued. It sometimes happened anyways when there were no jobs or a vision that the young boys had a future, except in the 'Hood.
