Once you have an online id with DirecTV, which you can use to access your account, as well as your profile. I believe you need to have the DVR connected to the Internet, so a link can be established between your online account & the DVR. You can schedule a recording either from your PC by going to the section providing the current program schedule. If you click a show on the schedule, & menu should drop to allow you to schedule a record. There's also info providing the address of the mobile site, which you can access from your mobile phone to schedule a recording. Essentially, programming is done from your phone, to DirecTV's website, which relays the request to your DVR over the Internet.
