I would rather see the EU make an exception for GA and Ukraine than taking them into NATO right now. NYT had article today where putin was a bit more contrite. By the way he said he like bush more than most americans do and took a time out for a 9/11 moment of silence when the first plane struck. He defended the attack into GA proper as more or less hot pursuit. He asked what were we supposed to do? Get a bloody nose and not react. After all we are a great power too.
Personally i would tell the Georgians exactly what i would have told the serbs. You are better off not controlling land where the people living there dont want you. Shrink GA, settle with the russians, hold off on nato for awhile and pursue EU.
