Great points Eric, thanks. You are right on the money regarding the inefficiency of using plants to generate energy. Unfortunately, you are also right that it is going to take quite some time before there is a significant change in ethanol production. Subsidies will only lengthen this time frame -- unwinding subsidies is orders of magnitude more difficult than putting them in place.
