9/12/08 update
You can put lipstick on a Bear and it's still a Bear. Doubtless, I'm not the first to make this observation. And Wall Street's Bears pretty much fought the Bulls (and Pit Bulls) to a draw this week. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was down -14.74% YTD (vs. -14.95% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 3.53% YTD (vs. up 2.58% YTD a week ago). And the Contest portfolio median closed down -12.94% YTD (vs. down -11.81% YTD a week ago).
At week's end, 9 of the 33 Contest portfolios were in the black YTD with 6 of the portfolios beating the NBI. Contest leader GENE's portfolio finished the week with a 106.6% YTD gain. ROBERT's portfolio held on to second place with a 33.5% YTD gain.
I'll be out of town next week, so no update.
Have a wonderful weekend folks!
