Justice Dept suit against MSFT--bundling practice for IE browser
I just heard on CNBC that the Justice Dept has (or will) file suit against MSFT for the way MSFT is bundling their IE browser software.
There could be a fine of $1 million dollars per day.
Potential implications for MSFT are important because, aside from any cash penalties, this could delay the launch of Windows 98, and force MSFT to reshape it current corporate/software strategies.
Supposedly, the IE Internet browser is the centerpiece of the new Win 98.
I haven't seen any newswire articles on the suit or its implications yet.
But if MSFT is forced to delay the Win 98 launch, it seems pretty obvious this would have a major effect on the potential price appreciation of many tech stocks over the next several months.
