"You made me think more seriously about the sizing of my positions. In the future I will probably try to take fewer positions - and increase size. And last but not least, I like your energetic, aggressive kick-butt go get 'em attitude. "

A key and very important statement. If you've have the time to daily monitor positions and are comfortable with research, you can generate fantastic returns holding only 4 - 5 stocks.

Diversification? Hah, it's rare for me to hold more than 6 stocks and suspect many here would think I'm nuts (and stupid) for not being better diversified. Well, its works for me.

I would be curious to know how well the old timers have done here on a yearly basis.

How does 34% growth per year sound since 1995 sound using the above strategy. The current rolling 5 year average is 44% a year and the numbers keep getting better since I quit the day job. At first blush 34% seems way to high but it isn't when you add in 3 years where I more than doubled the value of the portfolios. 2003 and 2004 were by far the best years.

I've had +/- 20% swings in 2002 and this year but will stay with plan as Mrs. Cricket wants to quit in 2 - 3 years. Gut wrenching swings but have to admit have become better a managing the down turns.

Could never have done it without the support of many friends here. This is by far the best board on the net
