dabum most here will not be doing that. The last time we had a big power outage gas was gone because it couldn't be pumped. I had gas and cash ... so I was free :O)

FWIW.. I keep three 5 gallon cans all through the year but am less faithful about rotating them in the summer.. when the living is easy.. It's a habit I picked up from being snowed in during snow storms growing up... When you live in a place where bad weather happens... shame on you if you are not prepared.. I'm not really adding to the conflagration here :O)

I also have two propane tanks rotating always.. (well 4 now that I bought a travel trailer :O)

Our gas prices popped 13 cents a litre before Ike even hit land.. and have been stable since..

And yes I picked up a few extra beers too :O) A couple of small generators that can fit in the trailer and be used as home backup are on the preparedness agenda.. Beer is better chilled ;o)
