BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - Eight people were hospitalized today with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning in a house where a generator was running just inside the back door.

Brad Penisson is a spokesman for Beaumont city fire-rescue. He says none were thought to be severely poisoned.

He said seven adults and three children, in all, were in the house at 3765 Quitman in Beaumont. They were using the generator to power the house left in the dark by Hurricane Ike.

Almost three years ago, six members of a Beaumont family died of carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator running inside their apartment in the wake of Hurricane Rita.
