So presently, Al Qaeda in Iraq is a shadow of its former self.

Who was where at the beginning of the war is irrelevant. What matters is who is the target when he gets there. Surely there are some al Qaeda and their ilk lurking about now or might be lurking about before Track finishes his tour or might be influencing those who are lurking about. And the whole reason we're in the neighborhood is Islamic Terrorism, in general. (Unless, of course, you think it's oil <g>)

I'm not arguing that that's the best way to frame the enemy, only that one can't reasonably jump to the conclusion that Palin musst think that Saddam was behind 9/11.
