Dear Mr. Wong,

I agree completely with your statement! Coherent is outraged that such a letter
could be posted and considered news. Coherent has contacted PR newswire and
complained that this is not news. The California bureau or PR Newswire agreed
and said they would retract the statement. They have not! PR Newswire is a fee
based service.

This individual had not contacted the company prior to posting this and is not
listed in any source I am aware of as either an institutional investor or
shareholder. What we do know is that they have done this at least 15 times
before to other companies. Coherent does not like to comment on rumor or
speculation. We do plan to review our dealings with PR Newswire! We take this
matter very seriously and this has disrupted our employees and shareholders.
