Wasn't greenspan appointed by a republican _RR or bush I? Doesn't he vote as a republican? Clinton kept him on after Bush I and then Bush II kept him on for about 6 more years, it was during those last 6 years when Greenspan really took his eye off the ball, and pushed policies which led to the housing bubble.

This was aided and abetted by an administration so intent on the "ownership society" it forgot to notice the multiplying scams until too late. Lets just hope we do not go into a major tailspin. With GOP policies which have led to more and more super wealthy and a stressed and shrinking middle class , it is going to be difficult, probably almost impossible, to have a consumer based recovery.
