>>>"Apparently harris and inoys think the hurricane in TX is funny."
I've never suggested there is anything funny about the hurricane. Hell, we've been severely affected by it here, too.
I think the point tejerk is referring to is the fact that Dems will be depressed that it wasn't another Katrina. Hurricanes happen. Fact of life.
What we, as a nation, should learn from Ike is that the federal government isn't, and should never be, a first responder. What matters is how well the local officials do. As I've previously pointed out, the biggest mistake the Bush administration made in Katrina was to not fight the claim that somehow THEY performed poorly. The Federal government performed just fine in Katrina; had there been a competent mayor and governor in Louisiana, the problems in NOLA would still have been serious, but the loss of life is SQUARELY on the shoulders of the idiots in the local governments. Ike is, I believe, evidence of this.
The federal government cannot save us from bad weather.
>>> Yeah, I know. What do you expect from someone who doesn't know the difference between a neo and a real conservative.
My real point was that I don't find the distinction to be important from my POV. Whether someone is a "neo" or a "conservative" is immaterial to me.
Just as I don't see a reason to distinguish among socialists, communists, and Democrats. They're all the same, basically. |
