To All: This post completes my investigation into the Tower Hill letter and companies response to we the shareholders on this thread. While COHR is prohibited from making any accusations publicly it is my humble opinion that the letter was a bogus effort to force down the selling price of the stock either for acquisition or more likely shorting purposes. I think so far as the companies future is concerned, this and the last post speak for themselves. Follows is the companies reply:

Again,

Thanks for your concern. I am familiar with the Silicon Investor and like to
see what is posted about Coherent. I have no objections of your posting
excerpts from my e-mail. As to what my decision is with PR Newswire, we won't
stop delivering news to the public, we do have an alternative choice with
Business Wire. Our general counsel believes we should not comment on rumors.
In this case, it was disruptive both to our employees and shareholders. I have
also followed up with NASD market surveillance, but did not mention Tower Hill
has done this before. I would like to think the newswires are not chat rooms.
If we comment once, then we will have set a precedence.

I think Coherent has a bright future. Part of the reason we missed numbers are
increased R&D was expenditures on four new medical products being introduced in
the first quarter, and of course our Lambda Physik's DUV photolithography.
Remember, the sooner we get new products introduced, the sooner we get fresh
revenues. Look for a release from Lambda within the next few weeks. Also, the
world will see how far Lambda has come at Semicon Japan (first week of
December).

Best Wishes,

I hope that all of you will be glad that the company cares enough about us shareholders to respond to us on matters that concern us and would suggest that you may wish to send them an E-mail thanking them. JDN
