McCain, on the other hand, first called Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, and by implication other evangelical conservatives "agents of intolerance," then actively sought the endorsement of Rev. John Hagee. Then, when some unusually screwy statements by Hagee came out, McCain rejected his endorsement. Ditch, embrace, ditch.
