"When have the Republicans ever run an absolute neophyte for the presidency solely because he gives a good speech? "

What does that have to do with anything?

It has everything to do with it. He didn't "run" for the presidency. He was "installed" as a candidate. The man was given the speaking position in '04 and immediately the Democrats AT THE CONVENTION were discussing their expectations for him -- which included president. They immediately INSTALLED him as a senator via the Chicago political machine and as SOON as he arrived in the Senate -- after only 143 days experience he was running for the presidency.

If you don't realize that this is controlled by the Democrat political machine you are more naive than I thought.

That the Democrats would have done this with a man who is abjectly unqualified to hold the office makes it clear there was only one purpose in it -- to get back in power. They decided they had a better shot of getting in power with a slick talker than they did with someone who was competent to run for the office. So committed were they that they actually defeated the Clinton machine.

>> Of course you don't. It undercuts your argument.

No, my argument is that the quest for power means winning the presidency.
