It's even more interesting that GE, MRK and PG - three major corps growing at ~ 15%/yr are also trading at PEs of almost 30. I suspect that it's the Nifty Fifty mentality - as much as we would like to think that the investing public and money managers are informed, they're not.

How many people "invest" in mutes after ensuring that those funds carry the GEs, the P&Gs, the Cokes, Gillettes and McDs - all the companies with which they have a passing familiarity? And I know that some of the biggest funds wouldn't be caught dead without those companies being represented in their portfolios, regardless of their price and valuation.

INTC is not yet a "must" for portfolio managers, although they should be in any informed investor's portfolio...
