Very sad stuff. Our financial industry is in ruins and the US gov't is $10 trillion in debt. And yet, somehow the Republicans and McCain continue to say that the "fundamentals of the economy are strong" and this economic malaise is "all in our heads". I mean, what are these guys smoking? What makes it worse is that at least half of all Americans agree! I just spoke to a neighbor of mine who had the temerity to blame the economic downturn on the Democrats, since they've had a majority in Congress over the last couple years. Nevermind that no significant legislation has passed due to Republican filibustering and that the financial issues we have now have been due to Republican de-regulation of the financial industry and the first 6 years of the Bush Presidency when he had a Republican majority in Congress to do his bidding. What a freaking joke this has all become.

As I've said on the other boards, we've become the Idiocracy. Somewhere along the way, we've lost the ability to see cause and effect and McCain's and Palin's daily lies don't help us get closer to a solution.
