I agree those at the cutting edge in any given field are able to increase the circle of knowledge but the horizon will continue to recede - or the circumference of darkness increases, to paraphrase Einstein

And as for Truth, I concur it may be pointless but the more I think about it the more it seems that pointlessness maybe the point!
