If correct, it will at least IMO be a beautiful theory That's absolutely a clincher - the theory HAS to be beautiful. I am forever amused and fascinated by the story (probably apocryphal) that Schrodinger refused to believe Heisenberg's theory because the matrix mechanics used by Heisenberg was ugly - he had to retire to a Chateau in the swiss alps for an inspiring retreat to come up with his 'beautiful' equation to prove the same exact thing Thanks for the tip on Lisi's book - not sure I'll understand it but will try to give it a shot. It's uncanny how many great scientists struggle with this truth and beauty/aesthetics/religion thing - Crick's "What mad pursuit", Chandrasekhar's "Truth & Beauty" etc
