A low number of write cycles does not defeat the purpose of offering a high density solid state storage medium. It's plenty useful for delivery of WORM data or to keep e.g. firmware stored that very rarely requires more than 10 times of overwriting in a product's lifecycle.

Things that come to mind would be maps for navigation systems, an emergency OS on a stick or onboard (Windows PE, for example), etc. etc. There's definately a market for this kind of product where a mere ROM won't do the job but less than a dozen overwrites are not required.
