What's your take on how the Japanese Yen performed back in 1990-95 when their economy went through a deflationary (in credit terms) crunch. The Yen was very strong and gained a lot seemingly no matter what the government did to pump.

This basically seemed to be caused by everyone there ranging from moms to big companies needing to raise cash. Repatriation of funds from other places converted back into Yen savings.

Is something similar going on with the USD lately? Will it continue as everyone here struggles to sell things to raise cash? If not, why not?
