Sure for many it was, but the point is not "government is always bad", or even "usually bad", more like "a lot of what government does isn't beneficial", and so "it should do less".

If 95% of what government does is beneficial and it fuks up 5% of the time then you don't want it doing less. Same with the private sector. I make a lot of decisions... and I'm probably wrong more than 10%. But the 90% of the time when I'm right makes a lot of money.
