What the closing averages are not showing is the heavy amount of internal buying that occurred throughout the day. The Dow closed 50 points lower than the low made during the morning session. However, I ended up with losses in my portfolios that were a third of what they were during the morning session. The smart money moved in and started buying, and then held into the close.
