Competition is great.

The problem is if it cost $40K to $60K for a car like this its a small niche, and if the competition remains fairly equal, than everyone will probably be losing a lot of money on it (at least if they are putting in the R&D to lower costs and also keep the cars quality and features competitive, and if they don't do that than it will never have a shot at the mass market).

If these are developmental cars, where a lot of money is being spent so eventually future versions of these cars, or new cars incorporating some of the technology can be profitable (at least if oil starts moving up again in a big way) than that idea could work, I'm just not sure how well GM can afford to keep throwing a lot of money in to investments that won't pay off for some time.
