That sounds like the Fed going into the banking business, borrowing short and lending long with paper against iffy assets ... ?

Governments get money in only five ways -

1. directly from the taxpayers ... difficult on short notice in election year

2. borrowing ... oh right, and from whom, lol

3. selling assets ... sure, even if empty Ft Knox should bring a decent per-acre price ... after US real estate recovers

4. successful wars of conquest ... out of fashion nowadays, and the 'successful' proviso was always a bit sticky ... plus again - it's election year, better keep it down to the mini-permawars

5. printing ... hmm, the press is right there, all tuned up and greased ... before we start, let's review projected cost of production ... virtually zero eh, you don't say ... well then ...
