This will not work. This week's fireworks in gold was just a preview of what happens, when someone decides to take a few billion out of the financial system and put it in gold. Apparently the movement to gold this week was in response to concern about safety of funds in the banking system. But it can also happen out of concern about loss of purchasing power of funds in the banking system, which is what the ultimate outcome of all this is going to be IMO. With hundreds of billions of freshly printed money thrown around like loose change, this can happen sooner rather than later.
