There you have it. You seem to be missing the most significant
innovation of the SGI Origin line. It is *NOT* SMP. It is
a unique variant of NUMA that is leading the industry.

In fact there's no commercial SMP that can scale beyond 64
processors (most are out of bus bandwidth at 8 processors)
and even that comes at a huge initial cost of a backplane that
can support this number of processors. There's a factor
of more than 100 between a system that can scale to 8 processors
and a system that can scale to a 1000 or more.

I suggest you take a look at some material about SGI's S2MP
here's one example:

reality.sgi.com

Regarding your puts, good for you, but gambling on the future
requires a lot of luck, just imagine doing that before the previous
quarter announcement (when SGI beat analyst expectations by
almost 100% on the upside)

Glad you like the N64. It is 100% pure SGI technology and even if
it were sold with a good margin it would still be much lower
than PC price, now extrapolate that.
