It will be appalling if no lessons are learned from this. When have lessons ever actually been learned? ot to keep picking on McCain but here's a quote Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, said Thursday that the S.E.C. had “kept in place trading rules that let speculators and hedge funds turn our markets into a casino” and said that the S.E.C.’s chairman, Mr. Cox, had “betrayed the public’s trust.” Honestly, the guy knows absolutely nothing about the markets or economics. A number of people on this board know more than he does. A lot more.
