I live in Alaska and was part of the ad hoc group that fought for our permanent fund (soverign wealth fund) which now has over 40 billion in it. We had a hard fight to get the legislature to go along with it. On 9/12 every man woman and child got a check for $3,269 from the state as part of the eyarly permanent fund dividend. We now pay no state taxes and get a dividend check every year. Our wealth is rising faster than our population of 650,000 or so.
