Joe, I guess all the talk of gaining curtomers from Numonyx is finally kicking in.
It is, but interestingly enough, even though there was some talk from Spansion about gaining some share, they really emphasized that in Q4 this year, they will finally see the volume from the "new" customers/slots they gained from Numonyx- so the best is yet to come.
Also, given current financial situation and sorry state flash is in, do you foresee anybody lending - or investing money in Numonyx?
Probably not, but they convinced at least me that they are in a good enough position (e.g with their advantage in node migrations) with a good enough cost structure to be viable for a long time to come. Smaller, yes, but more profitable as well.
As for MirrorBit, the impression they´re trying to give is also that the best is yet to come (they stressed the next 18 months), and I can believe that. The (positive) impact from SP1 has yet to materialise - as soon as the new, much more cost effective products are qualified with customers.
----- I´d like to see Samsung withdrawing from the NOR market, and investing in Spansion to secure their supply. We can still dream, and that´s what I choose to do :) |
