About a year ago there was concern that a hedge fund might buy TI and take the company private. TI is kind of vulnerable since it has no debt. A fund could try to buy TI using the company as collateral for the loan. It would be the ultimate irony. After selling all the parts, TI sells itself. I think such a sale would be bad as it would cheat long term holders out of the post recession rise in price.

I have also seen speculation that TI might try an acquisition, but I haven't heard of any credible targets.

TI has become mostly a one trick pony (DSP), and the pony is becoming a commodity. It is hard to understand what the future holds. It is like DSP was a shooting star that is now dying out.

The vacant plant on Renner Road in Richardson seems to be spotlighting that plans have not worked out as TI hoped.
