For some reason this conversation sounds familiar... LOL

Ultimately, this crisis shows that social engineering is a dangerous path full of unintended outcomes. Fannie and Freddy were created with the intent to "promote" private ownership of real estate. That was accomplished through what in essence were below market loans. These, if done on a grand scale, will inevitably cause bubbles, manias and a variety of financial repercussions.

And now, when the proverbial chickens have come home to roost, we the people and our children and grandchildren will be forced to pay the price. The cure which our leading geniuses are pushing is... more grand schemes, which this time have a smell of socialism.
