I guess I haven't been looking on it as a derivatives crisis. My understanding is that the people owning this debt do own the actual debt, even though it has been sliced and diced and tranched. So technically that would make it not a derivative.

But I do understand your point, even though I don't think much of the derivative exposure has hit the fan yet. To be honest it would make me happy if they took all of the greedy bastards who design and profiteer off of this kind of stuff and ship them off to some desert island.
