Congress really IS that stupid. Remember the hearing where a Congresswoman didn't know Bernanke from Paulson? How can they understand this whole issue when some of them haven't mastered the difference between the Fed and the Treasury. Paulson could say anything he wanted to these morons and they'll agree to it, because they don't understand, they're deer in the headlights, and they want to lay the blame on him if it doesn't work out before the election.

So much for the checks and balances thing.
