Vintner, Freddie and Fannie were always symbols of the liberal socialism the right wingers hated. It had little to do with the loans thye were making. Most were pretty standard. It was the idea of their being quasi public agencies. Neo cons want no public agencies at all. All private, right down to prisons!! Freddie and Fanny were 5 trillion thorns in the neo cons side-lol. That particular agency really pissed them off-lol.
