Wal*Mart Rolls Out New Telxon AirAware Wireless Networking Solution
AKRON, Ohio, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Wal*Mart, the world's largest retailer has initiated the roll-out of Open AirGate(TM), a new Telxon Corporation (Nasdaq:TLXN) wireless networking solution which provides the retailing giant with new levels of functionality and better support for managing the world's largest retail wireless information management network.
''A module of Telxon's innovative family of AirAware(TM) wireless communication software products, Open AirGate enables Wal*Mart to reduce the complexity and cost of managing wireless networking in over 3,100 business units worldwide,'' said David D. Loadman, chief technical officer for Telxon Corporation. ''The new system provides for dynamic loading of new applications to Telxon mobile computers via dynamic software distribution and version control. Turner said Open AirGate meets Wal*Mart's requirements of supporting industry standards such as Windows NT, DHCP, TCP/IP and SNMP.
