It has been resurrected and shipped in the Solaris 2.6.
It is most likely used in the "web-based OS install" feature
and for viewing documentation etc. which are all moving
in the direction of being viewable through the Web (instead of
the proprietary "answerbook" browsing application).

It is probably good enough for that but not with all the features
of Netscape browser.
