Inasmuch as Bush was Captain of the Ship I suppose you can hold him generally responsible, but I don't hold him personally responsible for the actions of Freddie Mae and Fannie.

There is evidence he didn't approve of the sub-prime lending policies and that Congressional Democrats did.

Additionally, the more I read about how we got into the war I don't think, but could be wrong, Bush realized the game that Cheeney et al were playing.

Should he have asked the hard questions? Yup.

Intuition tells me he didn't know what to ask and trusted, wrongfully, the advisors.

Will he take the fall historically? Yup.

Is he evil? No.

Lacking? Yes.
