If you have been diagnosed as having arterial plaque, the following is recommended by the "Track Your Plaque" site. trackyourplaque.com

# Limit your intake of fats to monounsaturated fats (olive and canola oils, raw almonds, raw walnuts) and cut back sharply on your intake of starches especially wheat products, as well as processed foods like breads, donuts, cookies, and chips. If you have been told you have "small LDL," eliminate all wheat from your diet.

# Avoid products with high-fructose corn syrup.

# Consider increasing exercise to 40 minutes, 4 days per week or use a pedometer to increase steps or calories burned by 50% over your current daily caloric expenditure.

# Achieve a BMI of 25 or less through weight loss if your starting BMI is greater then 25. nhlbisupport.com

# PB medication [I prefer Lisinopril] if your BP is above 120/60 to reduce it to that figure.

# Niacin starting at 500mg per day and increasing to 1000mg per day after four weeks, then to 1500mg if the Track Your Plaque HDL and Triglycerides target of 60 mg/dl is not reached.

# Fish oil at a dose that will give you 3000mg of omega-3 fatty acids a day.

# Add oat bran 3 tbsp per day to your diet.

# Add ground Flax seed 3 tbsp per day to your diet.
