muddle through, either in panic or after deliberation, and pray or prey along the way just in in-tray Goldman is now a bank, correct? They need a cheap deposit base, correct? What are the odds that the FDIC takes over WaMu in the coming few weeks and Goldman "conveniently" picks up the WaMu deposits sans toxic loans for a cheap price of perhaps no premium for its deposit base? Surely Goldman is thinking of something along these lines.... With Morgan Stanley taking in $8.4 Billion of new money, I presume that their leverage ratio has gone from roughly 25 to 1 to 20 to 1?
