Keith, If I'm wrong correct me, but the only critical problem I've identified so far is the run on money market funds that happened last week. That was obviously fixed by extending government protection to money market funds. What is the critical current issue that requires this bailout to be done immediately ? Why the rush ? Wouldn't more reasonable accounting rules on mark to market be a better first step ? I'm unconvinced that a government solution is better than leaving it all to the private market.
