About 15 minutes before the close, I decided to buy some GS. I figured it now was safe from shortsellers and since its book value is around $100, I really could not go wrong even at $118. Today, GS had traded from a low of $113 but during the last couple of hours seemed to stall out in a trading range between $118 and 120. In any case, I snagged some at $118.45 and then went downstairs. I couldn't have been gone more than 10 minutes. When I got back and checked the price, it had suddenly jumped to $125. I couldn't figure out what had happened but thought what incredibly lucky timing on part.

Well I just found out........this is what happened:

Goldman to Raise $7.5 Billion From Berkshire, Public

bloomberg.com

The raise info must have leaked out just before the close right after I made my buy. Damn, can you believe how lucky I was! GS is currently trading at $135 in AH. Its also giving MS a nice boost. I have to thank the trading gods for that one. ;-)

Damn. Now why didn't I buy more?! <g>
