Sun Microsystems Inc. Chief Executive Jonathan Schwartz's total compensation package for 2008 was $11.1 million, according to reports Wednesday. Associated Press reported that the complete package for Santa Clara-based Sun's (NASDAQ: JAVA) CEO represents a 44 percent increase over his $7.7 million compensation the year before. Schwartz's $1 million base salary is the same as it was in 2007, but on top of that his bonus was $1.04 instead of an earlier $2 million target because of disappointing performance by the company in two quarters. Other perks Schwartz received included $52,000 for a chauffeur.
