Leon, strange reaction on a day when the stock rose 25% :-)

I attended the AGM which was held Sept 19 - the July one had been postponed.

My understanding of the situation is that Microstar was quite profitable as an SGML services firm until it tried to become a software vendor, and went public simultaneously. That's when the losses set in as the market simply wasn't ready for an SGML product; it wanted HTML, due to the explosive growth of the web.

Microstar remains committed to SGML as the best standard for publishing to multiple media but in the meanwhile, they will be satisfied with a move by the industry from HTML to XML, a true sub-set of SGML, thereby leveraging MSS' expertise.

For the time being, MSS will focus on the profitable services side but will keep a foot in the software side, but will not commit significant resources to it until a market becomes more obvious. The shareholders in attendance agreed, that under the circumstances, this seemed to be the most rational approach to restoring shareholder value in the short term.
